CONSULTATIONS

There is no charge for estimates for repairs or necessary setup work; consultations on elective matters such as string choices and possible upgrades to your bass can be scheduled with our luthiers at the private lesson rate.

Current repair special:

Fingerboard planing $100 flat rate!!  Includes re-cutting the nut and complete re-shaping and re-finishing of the fingerboard.  Bridge re-cut extra, depending on the amount of modification required.  Now through Feb. 29.  As of March 1, fingerboard planing will be $125 for ebony; dyed white-wood (“ebonized”) fingerboard work will be $150.  If your fingerboard has buzzes or too-high action, now’s the time to have it made right.

We perform the majority of types of repairs to basses, and offer outstanding setup work.  There is no substitute for perfect setup and adjustment of a bass when it comes to optimal playability.  The bass is also the highest-maintenance instrument in the string family.  At the Quantum Bass Center, we believe beginners and students make the most rapid progress when outfitted with the best set-up instruments.  Our mission is to eliminate impediments to talent such as “It’s only a school bass” or “They’re only beginners”.   We commit to repairs from the root of any problems, to prevent further damage or recurrence, and only undertake repairs when we can do so to the highest standards of woodworking and traditional luthiery.

YES WE DO!  ...repair and upgrade basses for ALL styles of playing, including old-time music, bluegrass, rockabilly, jazz and classical.  YES! We repair electric-upright basses!  We welcome basses that are funky, inexpensive, and extremely broken just as much as we welcome Italian masters, and provide the same objective advice, meticulous work, and attention to players’ needs.
