Joh. Schmerel bass ca. 1910 SOLD
This REMARKABLE bass came in with a failing old button repair, and required a long sequence of revision of other old repairs in addition. It has a new bass bar, all old cracks have been newly cleaned out, glued, and cleated, and it is undergoing a new round of setup work and varnish touchup. Even pre-repairs, its sound quality, response, and projection were extraordinary. Repair labels from 1955 and 1952. We believe it to be from a maker's shop (as opposed to a factory-style, large production workshop), as its original carving was quite meticulous and the varnish a bit different than an ordinary workshop bass. The tone for the price is incomparable! Snap up this bass without delay, and confidently invest in upgrades and an in-depth restoration if you desire.
