QBC is very proud to be a dealer of the fine NS Design electric-upright basses (and in fact all of their product line - we have also sold their electric cellos).  This is the new NXTa (active) model in Amberburst finish. The NXT is an excellent choice in electric-upright basses: well-designed, well set up, very easy to play, to handle, and to move around. We highly recommend an NS Design NXT in either 4 or 5 string as a great way to transition from bass guitar to upright bass!  Position markers on the fingerboard at every half step facilitates rapid stabilization of your intonation; the supplied tripod stand holds the bass is position for you, allowing for more practice hours in comfort without the complication of positioning the bass with your body.  They have a proper bridge curve for bowing, can be used with any double bass strings, and have the obvious advantage of being highly portable and roommate-friendly in regards to late-night practicing.  Great for travellers to keep in practice.  They are popular with our customers who play on cruise ships.  Also a great solution for students who have school basses for orchestra, but whose parents are at all hesitant about buying them double basses for home practicing and are worried about "lugging the bass around" or "are they going to keep playing past high school?".  These basses can make dorm practicing possible and give you a cost-effective way to continue the bass at college, and also hold their value well, should you need to trade it in at some point.
