What are you doing currently?
I’m a senior in high school studying with Kristen Bruya, principal bass of the Minnesota Orchestra. I’ll be attending the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University this fall to study with Paul Johnson as a double bass performance major.

What are your ambitions?
My ambitions as a player are often based on orchestral and solo performance opportunities. I hope to play in a professional-level orchestra, but I also enjoy teaching and have been lucky to be featured as a soloist with orchestras twice in my high school years. I strive to advocate for the double bass as a versatile instrument!

Why Bass?
I became a bassist because I have always enjoyed the potential of the instrument. Ever since I started private lessons nearly 5 years ago, the capabilities of the double bass have only continued to expand for me. Whether it’s the low, growly notes or the sweet and rich, yet subtle upper register, I’ve naturally been drawn to the instrument, always!
