Highly flamed and very well made Bohemian bass ca. 1860. Extraordinary wood, beautifully set up, Robertson chromatic extension plus a well-made false nut which brought the string length to 41 1/2". Warm, responsive, and very resonant tone. Very high quality original varnish in a warm caramel color. The exterior linings are carved with extra fluting, an indication of a maker of quality who added details. This grade of wood is rarely seen any more.
