SOLD Powerful, good-sounding modern Italian bass, made in Cremona, the historical center of violin making, the Luciano Bini has been in a major orchestra section since 2001. Meticulously maintained, excellent setup, very easy to play and get around. Nice tidy workmanship, beautiful even flaming, attractive symmetrical violin pattern, original neck, new strings, new bridge - sounding very responsive and open. Robertson's extension.

Upper bout: 20 1/2"

Lower bout: 26 1/4"

Rib depth: 9"String length: 42"

About Cremona: Cremona, Italy was home to the most renowned makers in the violin history: the families of Amati, Stradivari, Guarneri, and many more, beginning with the invention of the modern violin in the 1500s by Andrea Amati. Antonio Stradivari, the name nearly synonymous with the violin, was Amati's pupil, and developed the shape and acoustics of the violin to those continued to this day. The world owes a great debt to a patron of Stradivari who wisely purchased and conserved Stradivari's instruments and tools after his death, as they are still studied and displayed. The Cremonese tradition grew and developed until the late 1700s; then, after largely dissipating to other parts of Europe, Cremonese violin making revived in 1937 and has become a world center of the tradition once again. In 2012, the tradition of violinmaking was placed by UNESCO on its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Today, Cremona is home to some 140 violin-making workshops. Seeing and playing this Luciano Bini Cremonese bass is connecting to a 500-year lineage back to the earliest masters!
